LPO Convention & Job Fair, Delhi

KPOPlacements.com recently organized India's first LPO Convention & Job Fair in Delhi on 26th September, 2009. The event was attended by more than 20 KPO/LPO companies and consultants and saw a turnout of more than 500 candidates from rich backgrounds specifically from legal, IP, engineering, and business management. The event was sandwiched into two parts – a panel discussion and job fair to provide job seekers with a deeper prospective of the LPO (Legal Process Outsourcing) industry.

The first phase included panel discussion of about 60 minutes on the challenges of permanent and temporary staffing. The discussion included a list of eminent speakers from legal fraternity included Pankaj Parnami, Director, KPOPlacements.com, Rajiv Goswami, CEO, Intellextra, Pavan Vijay, MD, LLPOnline.com, Vijay Srivastava, VP–HR, United Lex, Prateek Natekar, VP–Operations, IDS Infotech, Sumathi Krishanmurthy, Head–Operations, Maximus LPO, and Rajiv Ranjan, Director–IPR, Airware LPO. A number of enthusiastic job seekers interacted and understood about the different career paths and pre-requisites of the LPO industry. The panel discussion also gave industry speakers an opportunity to raise several challenges pertaining to the growth of the LPO industry. According to Ms Sumathi Krishnamurthy, “The event was as an eye opener for many people to understand what an LPO is as there are still a number of people who do not understand the industry.”

The second phase included job fair whereby a number of employers held on spot interviews, while rest held discussions and spread awareness about the companies. Some of the most noticeable employers who joined as Recruitment Partners were Infosys, Quattro, EXL, Intellextra, Airware, IDS, Lawkerz and United Lex. The employers got happy to see the kind of job seekers, including very experienced candidates. According to Mr. Vijay Srivastava, “VP-HR, United Lex, “We were not expecting such a turnaround. We have collected hundreds of resumes which are relevant to our requirements.” Almost every employer was kept busy at their job stalls with large queues of the job seekers waiting for their attention. According to Yogita, HR, IDS Legal, ““We are delighted to be at the event and have been occupied for last 3 hours or so.” Further, according to Mr. Arun, HR, EXL Services, “We have collected over 150 resumes matching our requirements. Further, I hope it is not a one time event in a year and happens more, especially in knowledge based industry.”

The event was not just beneficial for the employers seeking right fit, but also catered to the needs of a number of job seekers who were specifically looking to join the LPO industry. The event not only helped them exploring several career paths available, but also helped understanding differences between BPO and LPO, and key differences and requirements of judicial systems in the US and UK to that of Indian judicial system.

According to Madhuri Azad, MBA, Professional, “I found this panel discussion and job fair a kind of platform for all professionals, freshers, and corporate leaders where they can learn more about the industry and reach their goals. I have got an opportunity to meet with a number of employers and have distributed more than 20 copies of my resumes at their desks. They all are very serious and are looking to fill positions. I just wish that such events occur more to provide a really good knowledgeable platform for the candidates.” More and more job seekers seem to endorse the similar view to that of Madhuri. According to Narendra Singh Bisht, Law Graduate, “It was an excellent initiation and helped clarify a number of doubts about the LPO industry.” Clearly, there is a great need for collaboration for such events specifically in the growing KPO outsourcing industry.
